Rachel Skinner has a warm, vibrant soprano voice, which was particularly pleasing in Laudamus Te.
John Packwood reviewing a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor in the Bristol Evening Post, April 2008.
Perhaps the star of the evening was soprano Rachel Skinner whose slim figure belies the volume she produces. She has a superb, secure soprano and gave polished performances of Lehar’s Vilja, Mozart’s Alleluia, in which she displayed a bravura coloratura, and ended with Czardas from Die Fledermaus. The melodies were ringing in our ears as we emerged into the frosty night.
Donald Hollins reviewing A Viennese Christmas Concert in the Stroud News and Journal, December 2007.
Soprano Rachel Skinner gave us two songs, Se mai spirarti by Vivaldi and Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate, a great favourite, sung with style and technical skill, handling the high portamento with fearless assurance.
Peter Lloyd Williams writing in the Bath Chronicle, January 2006.
The highlight of the evening was two Piazzolla songs from Rachel Skinner, authentic tango beat sung with grace and style against a soulful insistent violin obligato.
